President's Message We are sure everyone is busy with the holiday season. This year we will spend Christmas with our children and grandchildren in NY and KY. By the 31st, we will be back in Florida to spend the winter season. We hope RVers who decorate their coaches for Christmas leave their decorations up until we get back. Much as we enjoy driving through streets with homes in holiday garb nothing beats walking around the RV Park this time of the year.
We want to take this opportunity to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy Holiday Season. If you are able to winter in FL, TX, NM, AZ, CA or Mexico, we hope you find warmth, fun and enjoyment over the next several months. If you are near either of the AlfaSeeYas winter rallies please join us for some fun, contact the rally coordinator as soon as possible.
On the subject of rallies, we are always looking for members to volunteer as wagon masters for local rallies. This involves ...locating a suitable campground for a rally for 10 to 20 coaches, letting us know the dates you have the rally and hosting the group. We will put the notice in the SeeYa Connection and on the AlfaSeeYas website, handle the rally checks and contracts, and help you with running the rally. This is a very important position for which we need volunteers. Almost everyone who has attended an AlfaSeeYas rally has been able to make new friends and learned quite a bit about their coaches. We presently have over 650 member families and we would like to hold more rallies around the country. It is up to you to help the chapter achieve this.
Alfa See Ya members are reminded to look at their AlfaSeeYas Connection Newsletter Label. The label shows your dues renewal date. Please consider sending an extra year’s dues. This makes it easier for the chapter Treasurer, Secretary and Membership Coordinator. Make all checks payable to AlfaSeeYas. Since most of our volunteers are full time RVers, keep in mind it will take several weeks for your check to be forwarded and processed (no, we do not work at 3590 Round Bottom Road in Cincinnati!!!)

2005 Chapter Meeting Minutes.
Minutes of Meeting of AlfaSeeYas Chapter
March 17 & 18, 2005
Tifton, Georgia
There was a General Meeting on March 17, 2005 called prior to the scheduled meeting at the pre-rally in Tifton, Georgia. The meeting was called to order by President Bruce Monte at 6:55 PM. The following officers were present at the Meeting: Bruce Monte, Rosemary Monte, Karen Hugo, and Tony Monson.
Treasurer Rosemary Monte stated that she needed someone to audit the Treasurer’s records. She explained the duties of the committee including the filing of a report of their findings with the Executive Board.
Joann Smith, Suzi Habeck, Shirlene Chewning, and Bea Christensen volunteered to serve as auditors. They will meet on Saturday afternoon to audit the AlfaSeeYas’ books.
Tony Monson asked the Chair for the floor. He explained that we needed a nominating committee to serve for the current year. He also explained the basic duties of the nominating committee and that the term would be for one year. He also explained about the quorum that the bylaws requires for meetings and the fact that the Nominating Committee must be elected.
Nominations were obtained for the Nominating Committee and consisted of Gene Bergstrom, Dave Kiesig and Bea Christensen.
Motion made to accept the Nominating Committee as listed above. Motion seconded. Call for discussion. No discussion being made, there was a call for the vote. The vote was unanimous in electing Gene Bergstrom, Dave Kiesig and Bea Christensen to be the chapter nominating committee for the coming year. The Nominating Committee decided among themselves to select Bea Christensen as the Chairperson. They will meet and present a slate of officers for the scheduled meeting as announced in the See Ya Connection Newsletter.
A motion was made and seconded to close the meeting at 7:30 p.m. and that the meeting be resumed the next night. Motion carried.
March 18, 2005
Meeting resumed at 6:30 PM by President Bruce Monte. Same officers were present for the meeting.
Rosemary Monte read the Treasurer’s Report. The chapter has a balance of $10, 230.16 as of January 31, 2005. There are expenses to be paid from that amount for the rallies. Rosemary reported that the Audit Committee had audited the Chapter Treasurer books and their reports would be sent to the Secretary for inclusion in the Chapter records.
Karen Hugo read the Minutes of the last meeting. Motion was made the Minutes be approved as read. Motion carried.
Tony Monson asked the chair for the floor. Tony Monson introduced the nominating committee – Chairperson Bea Christensen then took the floor and introduced the rest of the committee of Dave Kiesig and Gene Bergstrom.
Bea Christensen read the slate of proposed nominees for officers:
President – Bruce Monte
Vice President – Norm Duarte
Secretary – Karen Hugo
Treasurer – Rosemary Monte
National Director – Tony Monson
Alternate National Director – Bill Harju
She explained that the Committee has contacted the two candidates for office who were not present at this meeting to verify that they still wanted to be considered for that position. Both Norm Duarte and Bill Harju agreed via e-mail to the committee their acceptance. Bea then asked for nominations from the floor three separate times. At that time, Frank Chewning moved that the nominations be closed. Moved and seconded.
A motion was made by Joyce Herman that the slate of officers as presented by the Nominating Committee be elected by acclamation. Motion seconded. The vote was unanimous.
Bea Christensen had the officers' present stand, be presented and swear an Oath of Office to serve the chapter. The Nominating Committee’s job being completed, the floor was yielded to the President.
Discussion of the upcoming rallies was mentioned - May in Lebanon, Tennessee and the Alfa National Rally in Gillette, Wyoming in June. Bruce encouraged everyone to get involved in one of the Sundancer chapters and try to attend the National Rally if possible.
Mention was made that the Atwood phone number had changed and it should be 800-825-4328.
Motion to close the meeting. Motion seconded. Meeting adjourned at 7:00 PM.
Submitted,

Fire Extinguisher - When have you last checked your fire extinguisher? Do you have more than one in your coach? Have you and your partner talked about emergency exit procedures?
Many of the SeeYa owners we have talked to recently have added one or more fire extinguishers making sure one of them is in the rear of the coach and one near the front entrance.
Trash Handling Our Alfas have a unique garbage handling system. During the past several years we have found the most economical bags are those from Wal Mart in a roll form (about 205 bags in a box). Although these bags seem flimsy, we have never had a problem with them. However, two problems did arise. First, the bags tended to fall down into the pail. The remedy for this was to twist the bag and clip it with a plastic spring-loaded clothespin or bag clip. The solution to the second problem, the bag being overfilled, was to put the unused roll of bags into the pail before putting in a new bag (this also solved the problem of where to put the supply of unused bags!!). (Bruce and Rosemary Monte)
Pre-Rally in August and Balloon Fiesta in October Keep your calendar open for two upcoming rallies...a pre-rally to the FMCA International Convention in Charlotte, NC. We are presently awaiting confirmation on the rally site. Pre-rally will be August 10 to 12. In addition, since they had such a great time running the AlfaSeeYas at the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta, Terry and Owen O'Neill have offered to run one for 2006. This rally will be bigger and better than the last! The Balloon Fiesta is Oct 6 to 15, 2006. Our rally will be for several of these days. Check the AlfaSeeYas website (www.alfaseeyas.com) for information in a few weeks.
SeeYa Gathering in Central Illinois - Nine SeeYas and 4 visitors met the 3rd weekend in September at Kentuckiana Campground in Hopedale, IL. Friday they were treated to a Caterpillar Product Demonstration followed by a tour of Caterpillar’s Engine Manufacturing and Assembly Plant. Saturday, participants had their choice of the Pumpkin or Railsplitter Festivals or the new Lincoln Museum. More delicious food than could be eaten was available at our Saturday night potluck and later that evening several families enjoyed the Kentuckiana Opry.
We will do it again! For those unable to attend in 2005 mark your calendar for Sep 21 to 26, 2006 (Wagon masters were (and will be) Mike & Karolyn Lippert - Jim & Kris Huber)
Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta 2005 The Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta (AIBF) was attended by 37 coaches of the FMCA Alfa See Yas chapter. Consensus of the 75 in attendance agreed it was a great experience and were glad they came. Our days started early with Dawn Patrol at 6:30am with the mass ascension of special shapes at 7:00am and regular hot air balloons at 7:30am. Seeing 750 hot air balloons in the air was overwhelming. With plenty of free time during the day, many folks enjoyed “Old Town” shopping and eating; some went golfing, while I heard others spent lots of time in casinos. The Santa Ana casino was good to get a free sweatshirt, while the Hollywood casino gave money for gas and $2.50 coupons for a buffet. We enjoyed the evening “After Glow” - when the balloons are tethered to the ground and the burners are lit. The After Glow started at dusk and we strolled for a few hours viewing the glow of hundreds of special shaped balloons. Joe Pepin and Roger Comire volunteered to tether the Noah’s Ark balloon for the after glow and with the balloon chase crew the next morning. They were part of a 20 person team and were they ever jazzed! It was a great experience.
We started the rally at the Hollywood Casino on the San Felipe reservation, not the Sandia Casino … long story. We all got together for a Mexican food buffet at the Sandia Casino on
Tuesday night and lucked out for a “2 for 1” deal. It was some spicy food and a lot of salads were eaten.
Thanks to “Red” Guran of Rio Rancho, we were not stranded before going into the AIBF parking area on Wednesday. The caravan of Alfa’s for 22 miles down Interstate 25 caused many stares as cars passed us by.
We had a great Mexican food buffet at the El Pinto Restaurant and it was not too spicy. The food, atmosphere, decor, and service at the El Pinto were excellent. We gave a dozen FMCA items out as door prizes, with the female half of the group being the only ones drawing tickets.
Friday morning, a dozen ladies had a pajama party, in the parking lot, at 5:45am to watch dawn patrol. The joke was on us because we waited an hour to see the balloons launch and the guys were still in bed. Except for Owen, he was up and good at refilling our coffee cups. The guys had a “men’s breakfast” at the Sandia Casino buffet at 8:30am which is about when the ladies went back to bed! The 15 guys at breakfast were glad Owen had a better time than I did for the PJ party. To the dozen ladies who enjoyed our gathering, it was fun being together and thanks for participating.
With the money from the rally fees in the rally pot of gold, everyone was given an entry ticket into the launch area. With still money in the pot, we had a pizza party social on Friday afternoon, before the After Glow at dusk and fireworks that evening. Bill Grist was presented with a Certificate of Accomplishment as an apprentice “RV parking director” from Owen & Cal. With the remaining money, everyone was invited to have those great Costco muffins on Saturday morning with their coffee before departing the rally.
Owen and I want to thank to Cal and Patti Chastain for being our co-wagon masters, without their assistance, it would not have been so successful. Being a rally wagon master is rewarding and fun, after the work is done. (Terry O’Neill)
