Meeting Minutes – April 20, 2008

Montgomery, Texas

 

The AlfaSeeYas meeting was called to order at 1:05 PM by President John Bohn.  The president welcomed everyone and introduced the officers present:  Belle Bohn, Treasurer, Karen Hugo, Secretary and himself as President.

The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Joe Felker.

Minutes of the previous meeting in Palm Desert, CA, were handed out, read by all and approved as submitted.

 

Old Business:

The secretary gave a status report on the current election of the Nominating Committee, Alternate National Director and the Standing Rules change.

 

New Business:

The president and secretary gave an explanation of the differences between the FMCA chapter of AlfaSeeYas and Alfa Leisure Owners Club chapters, i.e. Roadrunners, South Loafers, etc. John also gave a brief summary of how the chapter was started in May 2003 at the Alfa National Rally in Tennessee.

The president gave a brief synopsis of the INTO Area Vice President election.  He stated that if anyone had express opinions they should forward them to Tony Monson, our National Director. Tony will be casting the vote for our chapter at the board meeting.

John then spoke regarding the AlfaSeeYas rally in Oronoco, Minnesota prior to FMCA Rally at the St. Paul Fairgrounds in July. There is information about the rally on the AlfaSeeYas website. Larry Thoma has volunteered to be wagon master. There are 20 spaces reserved at this time.  John also spoke about the experience at the Pomona rally as tram volunteers and said that Larry was considering doing something similar at St. Paul.

The president explained that Hannah Dubuc has resigned as membership coordinator to do other things and that we need a volunteer to take over that position. He handed out a brief summary of the job.

The president also said that we are in need of a new person to handle the newsletter as Jim Huber has been doing it for six years and is ready to be replaced. He then explained the cost of mailing the newsletter and stated that we would eventually like to do it via email or the website. . Frank Ayers, president of the Alfa Sun Risers chapter, stated that with putting their newsletter on the website, their mailing costs for 170 members dropped from $400 to $16.

John also stated that we will soon be in need of a replacement for Tony Monson as National Director because Tony is settling down and no longer traveling.

Tim Dean was introduced as the candidate for the Alternate National Director position for the election now being held.

Ken Sims was also introduced as our original National Director. He explained about attending meetings at the summer FMCA rallies for the National Director.

There being no further business, a motion to adjourn was seconded and approved. The meeting was adjourned at 1:30 PM.
