2010 01 Emerald Desert

AlfaSeeYas Meeting

January 4, 2010

Emerald Desert Resort Pre Rally

Indio, California

John Bohn opened the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance at 11:30 a.m. He distributed the minutes from the May, 2009 business meeting along with the Income Statement and Balance Sheet. John introduced the officers of the club:

            John Bohn, President

Dave Kiesig, Vice President (not present)

            Belle Bohn, Treasurer

            Rhonda Dean, Secretary

            Tim Dean, National Director

            Don Rowe, Alternate National Director

            Patty Rowe, Newsletter Editor

            Tony Monson, Webmaster (not present)

He also recognized Karen Hugo, past secretary and Hannah Dubuc past membership coordinator.

Old Business

A motion was made, seconded and unanimously approved to accept the minutes from the May business meeting.

Belle Bohn reviewed the financial statements noting that the club has an overall net gain in assets. She pointed out that the actual cost of sending out the newsletter via e-mail has dropped from $750 per quarter to $110 per quarter.  A motion was made, seconded and unanimously approved to accept the treasurers’ report.

New Business

Tim Dean reviewed how the dues renewal notifications are sent out.  Reminders are sent out via e-mail 30 days before the membership expires. Those who do not have e-mail are sent a hard copy letter. Because there is a lag time in receiving your checks you may get a notice even though you have sent in your check.

Tim also discussed the members’ only section on our website. He explained what the site is for and how it is accessed. Tony Monson and Tim are the ones who give access to the site and there may be a short lag time before you get access. Currently we have about 74 members registered on the site. John mentioned that there are other Yahoo sites that may be of interest and they are noted on our website.

Tim gave a brief report on the FMCA meeting in Bowling Green, Ohio this past July. He discussed the proposal to increase dues and find another vendor to replace MEDEX. There has been a slight increase in the mail forwarding cost by FMCA.  Medex coverage will continue until at least the end of 2010.

Other Discussion

John apprised the group that the club is in good shape financially. He noted the highs and lows of our membership over the past few years. In 2009 we spent money on advertising and currently have 538 members. For the future we will have to recruit new members from those who have purchased used coaches. He asked those present to be recruiters for the club. When you see an Alfa rig go introduce yourself and tell them about the Chapter.

The recruitment award this year goes to Joe and Barbara Felker.

John and all attendees congratulated and thanked Don and Patty Rowe for hosting a great pre-rally. There are 39 coaches in attendance. Please consider being a rally master. It’s not hard to do and it is a great way to meet new folks and visit with old friends. The club will pay for the rally master site if the park does not.

Randy Scott gave an overview of the NASCAR rally he and Terry are putting together Oct. 7-11, 2010 in Fontana, California.  More information will be forthcoming.

The group was also asked about interest in a rally in Ft. Collins, Colorado this summer. Several folks indicated they would attend thus Charlie Musgrave and George Hall agreed to be the rally masters and will begin planning.

Nominating Committee

Don Rowe, Gene Lassiter, and Rhonda Dean are the current nominating committee. The current officer’s terms will expire in 2011.  The current president, vice president and treasurer will have been in office for four years and need to be replaced.

John Bohn and Karen Hugo both talked about the benefits of serving in an officer position. The viability of the club is dependent on folks stepping up.

There being no other business the meeting was adjourned at 12:20 p.m.

Post Script: Tim Dean and Don Rowe audited the AlfaSeeYas financial records and found them to be correct and in order on January 9, 2010.
